Currently in PRC. I'd bring a fast lens for inside museums, they have some fantastic ones. Long lens for candid street photos.
The Great Wall was NOT built using cut and fill, rather follows natural land contours, so some sections are steep. Google doesn't work without a VPN. Security will individually check all your extra camera batteries, but can leave the one inside the camera, and much nicer than the TSA
In Xi'an, besides the 3 warrior pits, make sure to visit the exhibition hall on-site. Shanghai bund great. Beijing forbidden city fantastic. October weather great, but still unpredictable (just spent 13 days in Zhangjiajie, 8 days totally overcast, 3 sunny. No matter, you will enjoy
