I have enjoyed my iPhone's ability to put exact location with every photo. Still using my trusty Nikon D-7000 and long ago purchased the add-on GPS device from Nikon. It was sometimes slow to lock on to satellites, but usually worked from most places on the planet! Looking at getting my first full frame camera, thinking of Nikon D850 or Z7. I don't see GPS features in product descriptions on either of these. Anyone using full frame camera that comes with GPS, or have recommendations for plug in device to accomplish the same?
Hi,
D850 : I use a small dongle style "thing " that plugs into the front multi pin port on the camera , it has a throughput facility that allows use of the port for other things. It has worked very well and embeds the dat in the Exif file . Never had a problem with it
Think it is called Di-gps and got from a company based in Hong Kong. Its not cheap and nasty.
I bet a lot of cameras let you link to your phone GPS for geotagging. I know my Canon RP does, but I doubt it is unique.
I do a geo track on my Android phone and add the track in the Map section of Lightroom Classic

Do you mean "newer" cameras that not many people have yet?

I use a di-gps on my camera but I only turn it on when I feel it's important to have the location. Generally when I'm away from home or a frequently used location. At my age, having the GPS data helps me to remember where I was and what the photo is about.
The di-gps wasn't really expensive. Ordered it online and it came in about 3 days.
Buy an Olympus TG-5 or TG-6. Besides being a fun, capable camera, it has a GPS track log function that records where you go. Later, you can sync that log with photos taken on your "big" camera.
I use one on my D7100/D810 - Precision GP-1
My sony camera supports Bluetooth and sony's imaging edge mobile app which runs on my android phone provides the means for the camera to reach out via Bluetooth to the phone to obtain GPS data which is then stored with the image and available to lightroom... The imaging edge software has recently been upgraded and finally it consistently connects and keeps the connection with the phone.. I suspect the other brands would have similar capability.

No. My D 7200 has WIFI capability. I can link it to my cell phone but seldom do. I know where I took the shots(s) and in some cases I don't want others to know. Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I will hang on to my Nikon GPS unit for now, and if/when I get new camera will look at all the other options mentioned.
