"I held an AR-15 in my hand, I wish I hadn’t. It is as heavy as 10 boxes that you might be moving. And the bullet that is utilized, a .50 caliber, these kinds of bullets need to be licensed and do not need to be on the street." -Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee as she announced the need for gun laws.

This quote has gone v***l on alt-right propaganda sites over the last 24 hours. There is video, so she did utter these completely misinformed words. None of the sites I looked at provide a date for this moment of brilliance on Rep. Lee's part.

The AR weighs about 7 pounds and fires a .223 caliber round. A .50 caliber bullet is massive.

Two points-

1. Are legislators intentionally using lies to flame fear over the firearm in question? Or, are they just ignorant of even the most rudimentary facts about the items they wish to regulate?

2. I found zero coverage of this utterance of misinformation on mainstream media. Even Fox seemed to have no coverage. Is this an example of media bias? Or, was the quote from years ago and it has just been revived by the alt-right?

Now, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is a very hard working legislator...I give her props for that. But so often, she just comes across as dumb as a stump.

This is one of the problems of the mass Liberal gun hysteria in America today. As Ronald Reagan said and I paraphrase, it isn't that Democrats are dumb. It is just that there is so much they don't know.

Sheila Jackson Lee obviously has not looked into what an AR15 really is and I honestly doubt she has ever held one in her hands or if she was truly honest would not make such a ridiculous claim. I also don't agree that she is hard working but that is a matter for another time.

She reminds me of another legislator who has said to let Americans have all of the high capacity magazines we want because then we will shoot them all up and not have any more. Apparently she thinks the magazines are a one use type of item and once empty are not useable again.

This information spread about by unknowing Liberals is part of what is causing the hysteria about these rifles. There is honestly nothing about these semi automatic rifles that is any different than any other type of semi auto rifle EXCEPT for appearance. They are generally black and, "look", mean and nasty. In reality the difference is nothing.

Yet as Liberals are wont to do they continue to make an inanimate object the bad guy, the foil from which they are protecting Americans. Democrats always do this no matter whether it is that nobody has health insurance, they are against big oil, against coal and so on. Democrats are nothing without a windmill to attack for the good of us all. Perhaps they should look inward to see the damage they are inflicting on America.

Yes, a .50 caliber bullet is massive, but there is an AR platform that will fire it.

You are correct Bob, sort of, that the AR will fire a 50 caliber cartridge but it is the 50 Beowulf, a sort of wildcat cartridge that might be in limited production. The AR Trigger Group can be used on single shot rifles to fire the 50 BMG cartridge. I doubt Sheila Jackson Lee was talking about the 50 Beowulf cartridge though.

Obviously a woman who doesn't own an AR or know how it works. Hence, she shouldn't opine on the matter at all.
Speaking of that. How many of you old dudes actually own a uterus or a vagina and why do you insist on telling women what to do with them.

Since you want to think of that - over 2300 innocents k**led every day for mostly convenience. And you approve of this national disgrace.

Not the point Rosie.
You do wh**ever you wish with your uterus but you don't have the right to tell others what to do.
These aren't 2300 innocent lives, they are fetuses. Second, many of these 2300 are non-viable fetuses that will not survive if allowed to go to term or might even cause the death of the mother.
Why do you insist on telling others what to do?
If you think that's a good idea, I have a list of things for you to do and I'm sure you won't like them.

Frank just like Conservative men who have a penis (Liberal men seem to have wh**ever they decide at a moment's notice, sometimes a penis and the next minute when they want to enter a women's bathroom it could be a vagina), that penis should be used in a responsible manner. The problem with some women is they do not use their vagina in a responsible manner. Women all know what it takes for a baby to form and yet they use their vagina with no discrimination in who or when a male squirts his little baby makers in there. Voila! A baby comes along and then the woman who owns her vagina says to herself, "Damn I didn't want that to happen. Let's get rid of the little bastard". Then the poor baby who never asked to come into the woman owned vagina is literally torn limb from limb to remove it from the woman owned vagina. Perhaps if the woman showed some responsibility her vagina would not be in such peril over and over again.

Well said Rose. Babies k**led simply for convenience of some woman who couldn't take the responsibility of having a vagina. With rights come responsibility.

As a Liberal Frank is allowed to take his vagina into women's rest rooms at any time he feels the vaginal urge.

Frank your statement of non viable fetuses that will not survive and might cause the death of the mother is just plain BS and you know it. How do you or anyone else have any idea what baby will not make it to birth? You don't have any idea. Cause the death of the mother? How often does that happen Frank? I have no idea but maybe one in 50,000 for a guess. that is the reason 2300 babies are aborted per day (using numbers from Rose)?

Come on Frank. You can do better than that. Can't you???
