Thomas, even with the 'wrong' Rembrant light on this feminine beauty, she certainly doesn't' look masculine to me. You have a way of continually breaking the 'rules' and presenting some beautiful images. Like is often said, you must have a really good camera. Also, you often take the time to educate those of us who are uneducated in regards to the the photography industry, and I for one, just want to say thank you.

in regards to the talent, it looks like she has a cold sore on her lip that she has tried to cover with lipstick, is that what she has done, or is it simply the light reflection that makes it look that way. in this case, would you suggest retouching the lip 'hot spot' or just leave it as it is?

Thank you so much for your very kind words jonsommer.... they are truly appreciated...

As for the specular highlights on Danielle 's lower lip these are actually a result of MAC Lipglass Brillant Clear lip gloss which I requested the MUA to add... it sparkles like diamonds, albeit not good for windy days since it is like flypaper for flyaway hair...

btw, the camera used here was the venerable Nikon D300 with it's standard AF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 VR Nikkor... so yes I did have an absolutely superb camera... and still have this epic piece of kit... at ISO 200 in the studio it can hold it's own against nearly all current Nikon DSLR's... and that optic works extremely well at f/11... It's all about discovering the positive attributes and limitations of one's tools... besides the hair stylist, makeup artist and Danielle were many orders of magnitude more important than the photographer and his kit on this image... especially since Danielle was only 16 at the time of this session... she totally rocked it... and her dad was serious impressed... all is well that ends well...

All the best on your journey jonsommer
