Thank you, I will check it out. I’m very aware of the prices of lenses, have a case full of them. I’m still leaning towards the Nikon D850. Will most likely be the last camera I purchase. Down the road I don’t want to say I wish I went with more mp, in case I do have to crop. I’m very serious about these lake shots and several of them will have some distance on them from the hills and vineyards above. I want as much detail as I can get. 32.5 mp is nothing to frown about either. Thank you!

Deb, welcome to the forum, just a forum tip: if you click on the "Quote Reply" option under another post, it will be quoted (as I did with yours in this reply) and will be more clear to whom you are replying.

Thank you. I have never owned a Canon and a close friend and decent photographer has only heard bad things about them. Through the years I have had Minolta, Sony and Pentax film cameras then up to Nikon DSLR’s. Love my Nikon but need a serious upgrade from what I have.
I’ve been a goldsmith for 42 years but health issues may have to make me retire from that. Surgery scheduled for Carpal and Orbital Tunnel, which means both hands and elbows are getting done. I’m going to need extra income and I’ve been shooting as long as I can remember and took a couple photography courses in college. Originally I was a painting student so I do get complimented on my composition when I take photos. Hoping I can push the shutter button when all is done.

Thank you for all of your information. I was blown away by the photos you shared. Not only the amazing use of light and composition but the subject matter was close to my heart. I’m of Ukrainian/ Russian decent. Luckily I have hundreds of photos from the late 1880’s and up of my ancestors. The subject matter is so similar, close to my heart!

The most important part of being a photographer is an 'eye' for the subject, which varies in detail by what you are photographing; the equipment either makes it easier or harder to express that 'eye'.

With everything that has been told to me in these blogs I’m setting my sites to the Nikon D850. I stated in an earlier blog this will most likely be my last camera and I would like it and it’s technology to out live me. Not getting any younger. Funny, it was my first choice, that’s always the way. Thank you for your response!

Thanks. I’m definitely convinced now to go with the D850. I’ve handled it, heavy as hell but nothing I can’t handle.
I’ve been reading all camera reviews for at least two months now. Finally found this site and everyone has been so helpful in making my decision for me. I currently have a Nikon and have always been satisfied. Hopefully I can retire soon and can’t wait to just do photography all day long.
The two things I kept coming back to on the D850 were the megapixels and the long battery life. The weight is a lot but have a monopod, tri-pod and platypod. It’s the one and only downfall I can see about this camera. Thank you so much for your input!

I have a used 810 (I'm Cheap!), my best friend has the 850 - both of us long time Nikon users - both delighted with our "new" cameras. The extra MP great - Enjoy!

Don't get dragged into Z7 just yet as the focus is not brilliant and the warm up time is a big problems...
Go with the D850 and if you want to push it to 9 fps look here... and join the website.

Well, the OP says two posts above yours that she's going with a D850, so I guess you have nothing to worry about.

Keep away from Canon. Although they have a bigger market share they don't have access to sony sensors and the quality is not quite there ...From what you say stick to FX I have both the D850 and D7200 ..Stick with the D850....( I have recently owned D800/D810/D850 D7100/D7200 so I got a rough idea) I would not call a D7200 a high MP camera

The quality is not quite there? What a crock of hooie. Why do you think Canon has the biggest market share? Because they sell inferior cameras? Why is it the majority of professional photographers use Canon gear? Because they have poor quality sensors?

The true secret to getting ahead in photography is to worry about the dramatic range and pixel resolution.

The path to good photography is finding a camera you feel comfortable with and then using it; you will always find a certain number of kibitzers.

The D850 is an excellent choice and you won't be disappointed. I don't own one because I already have three full frame cameras, one with higher resolution than the D850, so I really couldn't justify spending the money. I almost bought one and was at the Best Buy with camera in hand, but I decided I didn't really need it.

The true secret to success in photography is understanding exposure and knowing how to use your photography tools and having interesting subjects to photograph. Worrying about dynamic range and resolution is something pixel peepers concern themselves with, not photographers who are more interested in the actual photographs.

"f/8 and be there" assumes you couldn't afford better equipment.
