Emotive - you saw it and saved it. Yes - it's the photographer not the camera. Thanks for showing.

If not for the geese, I would have thought the house is too far to the left. The geese really add to the wistful mood. Love the colors, composition, and "feel" of this photo. Abandoned old house photos always make me think of the day the house was completed and the owners moved in; what their lives were like, how much family history was lived out there, what were the reasons for moving out, and where those people are now. Great photo!

Others have commented about the orientation of the house - I tried it more to the right, but I wanted the expanse of the backyard and the counterpoint of the geese flying away to overrule the front yard - kind of "looking backwards in time." And it appears my effort at wistful, melancholy and overcast was recognized by you! Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to post!

I like the mood of your image. I think the storm clouds enhance the story of the aging and loneliness of the empty house. Bev

Thanks, Bev - it is heartening to see that what I intended as the "feel" of this image really came through to a lot of folks. Appreciate you taking the time to post!

I feel the sense of lonely abandonment even the geese flying overhead are leaving ! Beautiful Picture !!!

That is precisely why I put the house to the left of the image - the expanse of the back yard looking backwards and the geese flying away were intentional for the mood I was trying to create. Looks like it worked! Thanks for posting!

Very nice. The skein of geese was frosting on the cake. The stories might be depressing ones of a hard life and broken dreams.

Seems the geese were the biggest hit of the entire image!

Ansel Adams thought 12 great images a year was a good year... if I get one or 2, I am thrilled, and I think this is one of them! Thanks for posting!

this small house would have a few tales to tell, I reckon...near Somers, Montana on a stormy fall day...

I suspect you're right... the history that lingers here. LOVE this picture! <3 Thank you for sharing it.
