I really enjoyed reading about the formation and composition of Stone Mountain. We studied it in Geology Class. Something about it stood out, but I couldn't remember what it was until I read your report......It's the biggest hunk of granite that there is!!! That is what we learned in geology!!! That was when I lived on the west coast. Now, I live about 15 miles from Stone Mountain, about 10 miles from Arabia Mountain and around the corner from Panola Park!!! Our Photo Club, Decatur Digital Photo Meetup, did photo shoots of sunsets from Arabia Mountain several times. It's quite a hike up to the top.

Thanks Flakes Mill! I've read about Stone Mountain geology and the rock formation several years back. For locals, some how we tend to forget about the marvelous things around us. Glad you enjoyed.
