Mathew beat us up a bit, downed several trees, very minor roof damage. Dorian had us scared, then just passed by w/o much fanfare... Feel for those in the Bahamas. My hope for all is that the season winds down quickly.

I'm glad Mathew didn't do too much damage, Mikey, and glad Dorian completely left you alone. Agree with you about those in the Bahamas. The pictures and stories from there are heartbreaking, and I'll be glad when hurricane season is over. It's always a relief.

They are precious ♥ ♥Thank you so much, Debbie! I'm so glad you enjoyed the 'girls'. It's so good to see you're back with us, and I hope all is well. I'm afraid I've been off and on here lately as well, and sometimes it's almost impossible for me to get caught up.

My aunt Mary used to raise these. A large heated aviary, outside, attached to a flying area, covered but open to weather.
They did fine in winter, going into flying area in clement weather.
I had a female. She would groom the hair on my legs as I read, felt somewhat of an affectionate act, a 'welcome to the flock' thing. Had an open cage in my bedroom and run of house. Slept in the cage, which I covered with a fine netting as protection from mosquitoes. Actually used paper on a hutch to void most of the time. Housebroken? The rabbit was, used a newspaper in one corner. She shared my house with a pet rat, a rabbit, two sons various guests( most of them were housebroken, thankfully, this was a single male household, as you may have deduced), and with several large snakes and lizards, and a 30 inch caiman. I was careful they did not get together.
A sad ending to Byrd(Byrd Renolds).
A friend came by, opened the door and out went Byrd, chirping her heart out as she flew toward down town Annapolis. Never came back. I would have put an ad in the paper, but had not taught her to read.

A very personable pet. Two would have been better, tho. Quite different from my 15 pound Savanna monitor, or the others in my 'zoo'.
