To prevent this from happening since I store my equipment in my basement, I purchased a Ruggard electronic dry cabinet and set the humidity to 35%,

For many years now I have used the small Dri-Pks in all of my equipment bags. They can be purchased very cheap on-line, I think I bought 500 on ebay so cheap compared to the cost it may be to clean up the mold...I shoot professionally and there is no way I would be without them. I also keep larger bags in the studio and toss them around my backdrops that are not hanging. You will find many other uses for them.

In areas where humidity is high, mold will grow in cameras and lenses. To prevent mold, I have been placing my lenses and cameras in zip lock bags with silica gel desiccant packs. You can buy silica gel desiccant packs on Amazon, eBay, etc. Often, eBay has good deals on desiccant packs. Rechargeable desiccant packs are also available, which you recharge by placing the packs in an oven at low temperature. Unless you live in a desert, you will probably have to deal with mold over time.

Can desiccant packs be heated dry - how hot temperature, how long, oven microwave. Seems they should be rejuvenatable.

I Have a Friend who Lives in Ormond Beach, Florida about 60 Miles West of Orlando, & her Brother had Visited her from L.A. where she Used to Live.

Anyway... her Brother Had One of the Earlier Nikon D.S.L.R. Models from Last Decade, that he Got in 2007, this Incident Happend in 2009 After he Bought the Camera, & they had been Touring The Southern Part of Florida State, Driving in Her Car, & this was in the Summer, the Heat & Humidity Somehow hit his Camera with Mold.

He Managed to Clean Up the Problem, because it was in the Early Stages on the Lens, but After that he Used those Gel Packs to Keep his Nikon from Collecting Mold & Put it in the Case he Bought for the Camera, the Flash he Also Bought & the Lens (55-200) was Not Affected, Nor the 28-70 Lens, Just the Body.

He Took Immediately Action So his Camera Equipment would Not Catch More Mold & Mildew.

One of the Disadvantages with Camera & Lenses & Equipment in Florida!
