My wife and I were in the waiting room of my doctors office. On the TV they were showing various people reading names that were killed by the muslims on 9/11. All had lost some one on that day. They got to the M's and then my friends son name was read. I lost it.
George is a man I have known for 40 years. We both worked at Morgan. We became friends. He was a broker. Over time I became a Pharmaceutical Analyst for their Wealth Management division.
I set up a friends and family account and George was my broker for the account. We knew each others families. His son worked in the second building. They were evacuating the building and he was on his cell phone talking to his mother to let her know he was leaving. He never got to finish that call.
Most of the debris from the Towers was brought to Staten Island. Three years later my wife was on the phone talking to George and he started to cry. Those in charge of the site on Staten Island had called George's wife to let her know they had found trace DNA of her son on some of the rubble. So for them and their friends the hurt was reopened.
If I knew where the button was I would never stop pressing it.

It was and is.
For some, it was and is just another day. You cannot get a member of the United States Congress to acknowledge the culprits.

Those of us who lost friends that day understand, that muslim terrorists were responsible for those deaths

I don't think a lot of people on this site cared about the event that took place in NYC

Interesting comment. Any particular reason you feel that way?

Based on the lack of comments.
Stupid stuff about "selfies" gets more interest than 9/11

Ok, I can understand why you might look at it that way.
Personally, I live not far from the Towers, worked in the area for many years and know several people who lost loved ones that day. I I have very vivid memories of spending hours with a colleague who was trying to locate his daughter and trying to e-mail my own daughter who lost a work colleague that day.
When I got home, my wife and I spent most of the evening talking about how the teachers at her elementary school dealt with the kids as word got out about what had happened.
Prior to 9/11, I used to fly the flag outside my house on Holidays: Memorial Day, July 4th, Veterans Day and Nov. 10th, the Marine Corps Birthday (which is a Holiday for some of us). I put the flag and out on 9/12 and haven’t taken it down since.

Anyway, I didn’t feel the need to post my 9/11 memories and I suspect there are others who feel the same. The lack of 9/11 postings disturbed you. Maybe my explanation will give you some insight into why others may have chosen not to post.

If you believe that so be it. I don't. It's lost its importance for most. My husband was in the Corp from 60-67.

I think understand your feelings but I don’t think using the postings on this site is a fair barometer of people’s feelings about that day.
Even own post wasn’t a comment about the events of the day, it was a comment about the lack of postings.
It seems like you and I have strong feelings about 9/11. Perhaps we should just “agree to disagree” on how they are expressed. Be well.

I know that this may ignite a political diatribe. That is not my intention. I just wish to share a memory. If anyone gets upset, please accept my apology.

I had just started a new job in April. I got another offer for a new job in May at the World Trade Center. The current boss begged me not to take the new job. I decided to stay. On that beautiful September morning, I was on the Gowanus Expressway. I was stuck in traffic headed towards the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Then I saw the smoke from the North Tower. Traffic was at a standstill. Then I saw another plane flying northwards. I had thought the plane was flying very low over the Hudson River. Then the plane hit the South Tower. I saw the burst of fire. I was directed off the entrance ramp to The Tunnel. I got home. Picked up my children from their schools and the babysitter. I stayed home and my wife came home. I later learned a friend who worked at Canter Fitzgerald died that day. He worked for Human Resources and was a Scoutmaster for Troop 43 in Staten Island. He was an ordinary guy who tried to make the world a better place make turning boys into upright men.

All our lives have been inexorably changed in some form. It could be how we board planes or the way we read a newspaper or even an lonely backpack or unattended suitcase on a bus or train.
Again I reiterate, I did not try to upset anyone.

I see no need for an apology. You, as many others, suffered a great loss that day and that’s where our focus should be. Leave the politics for another place.
