What kind of sensor cleaning kit should I buy for my crop sensor Nikon D7200? I have lots of spots on my images in the sky areas.

There are lots of different kinds, but I think the original alcohol and swab is the way to go. Some choices below.

From my experience, the first swipe will remove some spots but probably leave others. It can take several attempts to get it clean. You can save a lot of time by using a sensor loupe. You wipe the sensor, take a look, and wipe again.

Yes, it doesn't get it done completely.

I wait for my local camera store to run a special. Fear keeps me from doing it myself.

Tony Northrup has a good video on how to do it yourself. I have done this myself. I have a Sony A7 III, and dust on my sensor has become a bigger problem than during my Nikon days. I now carry a blower in my camera bag, and I use it every time I come home from an outing. That has helped me stay on top of the problem, and I have not had to use the Northrup method in months now.

The safest way to clean your sensor is to use a dry (not wet) product such as the one below. There is too much risk of getting moisture in sensitive parts using the wet products. I have used mine before every job for years now and have never had a mishap. You must follow directions and not overdo it. Initially or if your camera has been exposed to dirty conditions, it is safer to use multiple cleanings rather than to clean it in a single operation.

You do not need an expensive magnifying scope to check your sensor. Before and after cleaning, photograph a frame filling sheet of white paper in bright sunlight with the lens out of focus. View the image on your computer monitor and you will be able to examine every inch of your sensor and locate any particles. Do that before and after each cleaning. If your camera allows you to make a sensor reference exposure, follow the procedure in your camera's manual at the completion of the cleaning.

As you have read there are products out there that will allow you to do this yourself. I personally have never been brave enough to try it myself. When it comes to fixing tings, I'm the last person you call. So I took my D500 to the local camera store (we still have several) and had them do it. It cost me $65 plus tax. The spots are gone and I didn't mess up my sensor worse than it was to begin with.

If you look at my post above and use the dry method, it will cost you $50 for many cleanings Vs. $65 for one cleaning. It is not difficult or overly risky as I explained.

Once clean try setting the D7200 to clean it at each on/off.

I agree! And don't forget to make a "image dust off ref photo" (under the wrench in your setup menu) when you have finished cleaning the sensor. Follow the instructions in the D7200 manual.

Buy a cleaning kit with the appropriate swab size for your sensor. Follow the instructions, You can go to You Tube and see how it is done. It is not hard to do. I have never had a problem cleaning my sensors. Give it a try. For me, professional cleaning is expensive and there is no guarantee they will do any better a job than I can do myself. Just sayin :) have a great day.
