Flame Tree buds.

These buds are large (each one about 5" long--like a small banana) & are extremely hard. Even so, cockatoos come in sometimes & open the buds with their powerful beaks. Downloading is recommended.

Excellent shot, Earl. Do the Cockatoos eat the buds or just enjoy tearing them up?

That's a good question, Carol. There is nothing in the buds but baby flowers, which would be no nourishment for cockies. They will also tear up a railing on a patio for no reason--they can be quite naughty at times. Earl.

I had a Triton Cockatoo a few years ago. He was a love but he delighted in shredding things.
