#1 Taken at a local farm donated to our town as a park.
#2 one lonely little flower on the edge of a riverbank. Had to slide down on my back to get the image I saw in my minde eye. sun dappled water in the backround. Durn near ended up in the river.
#3 foggy sunrise at the barn.
#4 one isolated little sunlit cloud at the tail end of a beautiful sunset.
Definitely! thanks for showing them.
A little swim would have been refreshing and worth it, don't cha think?
In my younger days, I would not hesitate to do whatever ,to get the shots that I thought would be worth it. now ,as i get older, i place limitations on what I'm willing to subject my body to. I remember a time back in colorado doing a weekend camping/photo trip. Sunrise over the rockies,me standing along a riverbed. at my feet is this tuft of grass with a single indian paintbrush. Now if I can just get low enough, I can put the tuft and flower in a cleft between 2 mountains as the sun is coming up. That required me to lay on my back in the river to get everything lined up. Ended up wet and covered with mud on my whole backside. Shot came out nice....but not as spectacular as I pictured. Now I'm wet and cold at 11,000ft. at 6:00 a.m. several miles from camp, with alot more potential pictures awaiting me. At the time, I was 10 feet tall, bullett proof, and invisible. Now? not so much. Although I still push things from time to time. Couple of my shooting buddies think something is wrong with me. But hey, you only live once.
Beautiful set. Love the flower.

Very nice set.
I usually skip posts that start with ‘Just....’. It sound like an apology and is often warranted. Not these!

I understand completely. Have you ever heard "Like a Rock" by Bob Seger? Says beautifully exactly what you just said. I'm 65 and still go out into the bush for bear, and moose photos. Just slower and more cautiously.
Number two photo is a cardinal flower. I only know that because I took pictures of some growing along a stream and looked them up in a book.
Thanks, Bartulius. Had no clue what it was.
RetiredCPO. yeah, I'm 68, but I still get down and dirty at times. Not too many bear or moose around here, don't have to proceed with too much caution. Flowers are not all that dangeras.
And , thanks to all for your kind comments.
papaluv4gd: I was AO2 when I finished my enlistment. Came so very close to re-enlisting but that's a story best told at length. Now it is a "what if" thought in my mind. The cardinal flower--I found them growing along a cold stream on Ontario, Canada; they seem to like marshy areas and grow in patches. They also appear to shun bright (full) sun. The patch I photographed I had passed by hundreds of times as they grow along a stream we cross to get to my brother's house.
bartulius: this one was along the river in wadsworth falls state park. I walked along the river, and did not see another one. Guess that was a gift for me from God that day. Thanks for all your feedback.
papaluv4gd: I suspect your solo sighting is because the others were picked. I have been to Wadsworth Falls several times and never saw these.
