I like the doorway shot; but, to me, the focus needs to be sharp when it stands by itself. If there were something beyond it, such as a silhouette in focus, the doorway would be fine as it is. I guess I just need something in sharp focus.

For me the soft focus adds to the mystery I think that is what you are trying to convey. This image is not for everyone. But what shot is?
