I like it--the strong, bold colors and sharp angles contrasted by the curved railing. That’s nice work.

That is pretty exactly how the judge summed up the shot.

Do you ever pop over to the UK to judge photo competitions

Taken inside the Lowry Theatre in Salford (UK).

If I were judging this photo, I would suggest that the wall and railing on the left might not be doing you any favors here. You have two very strong diagonals with the dark orange of the floor (in shadow created by the stairs) forming a diagonal line that takes us to the foot of the stairs. Then we are brought back in the other direction with an even stronger diagonal line created by the stairs that soars to the upper right. The colors are vibrant, but not overstated. I think you did a great job here. I agree that it would make a fantastic print. I would give some thought to the elements on the left. You have a very strong composition with or without the railing. If you do decide to crop or clone some of those elements, give some thought to the upper left. I think the ceiling details give us some context for the staircase. Please let us know how you do in the competition. This should score very well.

It was a winner! The counterpoint of the railing on the left was one of the points the judge liked a lot.

One never knows what Judges are going to say but in this instance I would say he was an excellent Judge
