Yes, interesting. But Lead-Acid batteries will eventually have to go by-by as even one complete such battery in a conventional car is too many. Old technology. The Lead is an environmental toxic hazard and possibly why this operation with Panasonic is in Nevada and not California, to say nothing of the prices of real estate. Hybrid cars on the other hand, like Toyota or Chevrolet, use Li-ion or Nickle-metal batteries.

I believe the Tesla battery is li-ion.

The batteries made at the Gigafactory in Nevada are lithium-ion batteries, not lead-acid. You should check your facts before opening your mouth and inserting foot. One of the reasons the plant is in Nevada is because of the super sweet deal the state gave Elon Musk to build the plant there. Also the cost of everything (not just real estate) in Nevada compared to California. And Nevada is more business friendly compared to California.

BTW, I was born, raised and lived in California for 63 years. I remember when it was a nice place to live but I knew when it was time to leave. Actually I would have left sooner but had to wait until I retired. Nevada has more transplanted Californians than native Nevadans.

The poster implied the batteries made at the Panasonic/Tesla factory were lead batteries and highly toxic, which they are not. They are Lithium-ion. I simply suggested he check his facts before posting.
And your attitude is why I almost never make any comments on this site. But I'm glad you jumped on me for my comment but said nothing about lamiaceae's lack of research to make sure what he said was accurate and truthful. A simple Google search would have set him straight.

But I will say that I'm sorry that my comment offended you.

If they had to do an Environmental Impact Study on water it would FAIL. It will dissolve anything, even metal and it will cause death if used improperly. So much for you "Ole Technology" eh?

Li batteries are much more toxic than Lead-Acid batteries. It is also very expensive to recycle or dispose of Li batteries. They are great batteries but very deadly if sent to your local land fill. Just like they charge to dispose of used oil there is going to be a significant charge to dispose of the massive number of LI batteries used in cars. They don't tell you about this when you go to buy one of these wonderful little machines. In the long run Li batteries have the potential to be an even more deadly pollutant than the internal combustion engine. Once again, there is no free ride.

after 100 years, you'd think we'd have come up with a longer range safe clean battery to power our new type off cars.
