I am toying with the idea of indulging myself after a hospital stay. I use a Canon 7D original. I may want to upgrade. I don't want to go to the "dark side" because of the glass. But I can't decide on a 7d11 or the new 90d, or perhaps wait for a 7d111, if there is one comming. Any ideas would help me decide. Another thought is full frame. A 6d2 perhaps After all what is money for any way. Thanks.

I have a couple Nikon cameras w/Nikkor lenses (nothing special: D90 w/10-24mm, D7100 w/18-200mm) and also a Canon M50 w/18-150mm lens. For what I want they bothe do just fine. I use the Canon M50 mostly because of physical size & weight and it gives me what I want especially on vacations.
If you're after really great optics try ZEISS Camera Lenses.

There won't be a 7DIII, so don't wait for that. The used 5DIII posted this morning in the for-sale section would be an excellent buy, but might invalidate your EF-S glass, if extensive.

I don't usually respond to these sort of questions, but since everyone else seems to have decide to ignore your question and talk about Nikon, I'll give it a shot.
Full disclosure, I do not shoot Canon.
Looking at the your two choices, I would go go with the 90D.
For an extra $200, you will getting 12.3 more mPx and the latest technology.
Just my thoughts.
BTW, I turn off the 'watch this topic' so don't bother ressponding.

There is an ongoing current thread on this exact subject: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-608797-3.html#10470238 A lot depends on what lenses you already have. If you have some nice EF-S lenses that you don’t want to sell and replace, then good choices are the 7D MkII or the 90D, but if you have EF lenses or are willing to invest in FF glass, the used 5D3 that Paul (chgcanon) suggested is a great camera with capabilities that will keep you satisfied for a long time.

80D, 90D, or, if full frame is tempting you check out the EOS R or, better yet the EOS RP. A FF for around $1200. Can't beat it and with the $100 adapter you can still use any EF or EF-s lenses you may have, although, don't pass up the excellent RF 24-105 f/4 L IS for about $900.
Whatever you get, have fun!

Wow what a game......an upgrade I thought would be 5dxx series...... I had the 6d from a friend in my hand- this reminded me on older rebel cross sensor focus system-FF- it felt wired......sorry but I have now a camera what I love and I don’t feel like comparing with a newer model........just saying

Don't wait!

Read reviews for the 90D. I bet you'll like what you read.

I am totally supportive of extreme indulgence. Don’t cheat yourself.

Truer words were never spoken. I went from a 70d to a 6d then added a 7d2 to get the faster burst speed and focusing system. Later, selling the 6d and going with a 6d2. With glass for both, I’m in a good place. Sadly, we have to accept the fact that there will not be a 7d3. That said, assuming a few hundred bucks more can be tolerated and you wish to stay with a cropped sensor, don’t anguish over the decision, visit or contact your favorite source and get the 90d. Else, you might find yourself looking back!

A used/refurb 80D would be a nice middle ground conservative approach for you or a 5D III in FF - otherwise, spend away with mirror less being your ultimate choice.
