Tyler Skaggs death

Just wondering what your thoughts are concerning Tyler Skaggs death now that the autopsy is in.

I'm sure he was a fine person that is missed deeply. But the fact is, he is like any other drug addict that is hiding his addiction and died from an OD. The last thing a person thinks when they are taking drugs is - boy, I hope they don't discover my body in bed from an OD in my underwear and vomit in my airway. I know because I used to venture into those realms when I was much younger. I'm grateful that I made it past that and have been drug and alcohol free for 31 years now.

How his addiction started is anyone's guess. Many people have trouble sleeping. Many people worry about performance. Many people put on a different face with with friends and family but deep down inside they are suffering from some kind of insecurity. Drugs and alcohol mask this temporarily but never make the suffering end.

Rest in Peace Tyler Skaggs. May your death help others see how dangerous drugs and alcohol are.

Kudos to you for staying out of that scene. It leads to nothing good.

No one special.
Just a baseball player.

Nothing--it’s in general chit-chat. My question (perhaps naive) is who's’ Tyler Skaggs?

One of the big issues is tolerance versus toxicity.
As you use, you need more. It just takes more. Some just takes the edge off. 'Til you get more.
BUT! The level it takes to make you sick, hurt you or kill you doesn't rise that fast.
With many people, like Tyler, the lines finally intersected. Too much wasn't enough.

All you have to do is Google the name and you see who he was. He was a 27 year old pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels. They arrived in Texas early in July for an away game there in Texas and the next morning Tyler didn't show up with his other teammates so someone went to check on him and found him in bed not breathing. EMS came but he was already gone. It took the better part of 2 months for the toxicity report from the coroner's office to report the findings. Oxy, Fentanyl, and Alcohol found in his system and he vomited in his airway restricting his breathing.

It's just as I thought, a healthy 27 year old athlete rarely just dies in his sleep for no apparent reason. I figured it was drug induced since he had had surgery on his throwing arm in the recent past. Also, it just didn't make sense.
