Get a cut-proof camera strap (with a wire running through it). Also put aluminum foil in your wallet and passport case to protect against RFID scanning your credit cards and ID theft.

I would recommend these precautions no matter where you go (including DC, Baltimore and Detroit). I also suggest getting rid of your yellow and black Nikon (steal me!) camera strap and covering the bright white brand name on the front of your camera.

Ordered a couple straps, thanks..

for the RFID, I wonder if a Esay Pass envelope would work...it prevents your easy pass from being charged.

I don't know that but I've cut a few small pieces of aluminum foil and put into my wallet so that the credit cards are sandwiched by them - I know it works since the card reader at work wouldn't read my work id & I had to move it to an unprotected compartment.

Good way to try an see if the easy pass envelope will work, they just seem to be more indestructible,,from tares and such. I'll give it a go and see if it'll work.
