I think this picture is the result of both. Great focus and detail of a pretty bird.

👍👍👍! Single flash? I know nothing about flash photography. Seemed to work here considering the quality of the image at considering you got this at 1/250. I doubt you could have gotten such a sharp image at that speed in natural light. Good catch!

On camera flash with an extender attached. The extender adds about 2 stops extending the distance or reducing the recycle time at closer distances. Its a good way to shoot when mother nature is not kind.
