Street Person with Belongings

Driving along in my car one sunny day, I saw this street person with all his belongings in carts. I'd seen the phenomenon before. The street person moves the carts in stages. How inconvenient!

Thanks for sharing his story in your excellent image . It is a sad Sad commentary. Your image converted to Black and White might have more impact.

Thank you. I feel for an older man living this way. Does he have a doctor he can see when he becomes ill?

Thanks for the suggestion of doing the picture in B&W. Never occurred to me. I had this concept of presenting his plight in the bright, colorful day of Southern California. The two conditions contrast.

Nice shot--a good example of street photography. Lots of times, as has been said, these kinds of photos have more impact when presented in a high-contrast black and white.

You may want to also consider a tight crypto eliminate those power lins and tree on left.
My sense is that when they get sick, I would HOPE they know where they can get medical help. Many communities have an outreach program for the homeless.

Thank you for your critique of my picture.

Please know I deliberately left all the elements you see within the frame because they contribute to the environment encapsulating the main subject. He moves in a modern suburban setting, affluent and impersonal, in which the street person contrasts by his shabby dress and his open collection of bagged possessions in carts, for all to see.

We cannot turn away from this individual as he presents in the context of the human condition.

This lofty thought did not animate me at the moment. I sensed an interesting subject and took its picture. Later, the picture began speaking to me.

Besides, if I may clarify further, I have assessed my years of doing photography and found that largely I do snapshots. That is my style that I grew into. My earliest influence happened via picture postcards. That's what I emulate naturally.

But I still try to observe the fundamentals of photography. I appreciate any comments that point me back to these fundamentals. I take your critique in that spirit.
