Highlights from the NCHA show at the Lazy J Arena in Stillwater, Ok, this weekend. These young cowboys can sit a horse. Shot with a Canon 5d Mark iv with a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 lens.

Nice shots. Somehow all the color has drained out of them on my monitor.

On purpose. I prefer working in black & white. I think it adds more drama to the image. It's a carry over from when I first started shooting. Also, in some of the dark arenas I shoot in black & white seems to produce a better image than the original color.

Just ribbing you a little. I'm not a fan of B&W but they are very nice photos of an appealing subject matter. Anything with horses in it makes for good photo opportunities. Thanks for sharing these.

These are beautiful captures!
Truly remarkable creatures.

Number two gets my vote.

I definitely enjoy a Black and White Captures. Definitely adds intrigue to the photograph.

Try bringing a film camera next time. Use Kodak CN400 film. It is a black and white film. When you use C41 processing, the resulting photos have a unique sepia tone. If you want to capture unique and hard to duplicate color, try PORTRA film. Definitely lets your imagination run wild.

Thanks for giving a good critique of Double G's horse photos. If you are creative, try a film camera. It's fun to use and can be rewarding. Using Ilford HP5 gives a unique grainy texture to scenery and photographs destined to be heirloomed.

By the way, thank you for your service!

Happy Shooting!

Thank you. I came from a film background too. But never appreciated B&W.

Great captures! My Dad, raised and trained cutting horses, and I've been on one a time or two. They are such great athletes. I've shot in arenas during horse events and you encounter some of the worst lighting and I've also found black and white often works best. Great Job!

Nice shots. A lot of these kids ride before they walk. I love how comfortable they are on a horse.
