I am giggly happy with my new D750. I don’t baby my equipment when traveling, as I prefer to have it ready to use. This being my first screen backed camera, I began to wonder about wear to the screen that is rubbing my side when not in use. I’d hate to realize I needlessly destroyed the screen a couple years from now. I am looking for thoughts and/or recommendations about screen protectors. Or am I worrying about a non-existent problem.

The screen is soft and it can be scratched and abraded. Unfortunately the screen does not flip inside like on my OM-D and Lumix cameras. If it did then you wouldn't need the protector. Also the screen is not a touch screen so there is no concern with losing touch sensitivity.

I put one on my D750. Easier to change the protector than the screen!

Have them on two cameras that came with them - not on my Nikons. A good few years and no problems of any kind, including the D 750. Of more concern to me is the vulnerability of the articulated screen on the D 750. Of course a lot of it is the way you treat equipment, and the conditions you operate under. If you do get one, my experience with the other cameras is that the hard screens are preferable.

Congrats on your D750!!

FWIW, I put screen protectors on my cameras as soon as I know they’ll have a permanent home with me. No one has ever been able to accuse me of babying my gear. I use Vello brand. Never had a problem with them. Below is a screenshot of the appropriate one for your new camera.

I have historically preferred the snap-on polycarbonate screen protectors. They can be scratched pretty easily, but are also easily replaceable. Since they do not fit directly against the LCD screen and its integral cover glass, they also offer a little more protection against impacts and can be quickly and easily replaced if (or when) they do become scratched or broken. Unfortunately, I have not found these for cameras with movable screens, so have moved to the ProMaster protectors. I don't prefer many of Promaster's products, but I do like their screen protectors, mostly because they mount without any sort of adhesive. If it is necessary or desirable to remove them later, there is absolutely no residue left behind. Their fit is very precise, though, and they are something of a headache to install, since they are also pretty unforgiving and you really only get one chance. If you mess up, you will almost certainly need to get a new one. These protectors are much easier to keep clean and smudge-free than the raw factory screen, and they are much more resistant to scratches or "hazing" from being rubbed. They are also a little more expensive than the Vello models shown above. The tech at my camera store is willing to install mine for me without charging, and after I tried it once, I always take him up on his offer. My oldest one is just over 2 years old, is invisible on the camera, and looks the same as it did the day it was installed.

It is important to note that I do not use the touch features on my back display and cannot comment on whether or to what extent the ProMaster protector interferes with that functionality.

I got the Kenko monitor protector film for my D750 and D500. They work great. You do have to position it correctly the first time. If you try to peel it back off and re-apply, they will get messed up.

I have historically preferred the snap-on polycarb... (show quote)

Since the D750 does not have a touch display interfering is not a concern.

Thanks for the clarification. I use these on D500s and a D850, but couldn't recall whether the D750 had a touch screen or not...

I have had my D500 for two years now and use the back screen all the time because I can go forward and back and enlarge with my fingers, never any damage at all on the screen. Nikon engineers have designed a screen that can take it. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. You can't hurt it. Have fun and keep on shooting until the end.

I use the Giottos Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen Protector on my D800E, available from B&H - superb quality.

I use one of the many glass screen protectors. In addition, I bought one of the silicone camera covers. It stays on my D750 most of the time. It protects the body from bumps, scratches and moisture. I do a lot of hiking and other outdoors activities.

I've found that it's not much of an issue, but I have LCD protectors on almost all my LCDs. They're cheap, and they more or less guarantee that the screen won't be damaged. Try selling a camera with a scratched LCD and see what happens to your selling price. Glass is available, but plastic is fine. I used to use Zagg for everything, but it's harder to find that brand.

My best deal ever was a full set for the MacBook Pro - covering everything for $5.00. It was a temporary sale on Amazon.

It never hurts to protect your investment if you suspect the possibility of an accident taking place while out shooting in the rough. I managed to crack my protector on my D90 one day and never figured out how I did that and so yes !

Good luck...that D750 is a rock star.

I have Vello protectors on both a D7100 and D850. I had the LCD screen protector mounted on the D850 before I had the camera set up. I am not a touch screen person either; I disabled that feature on my D850 because I kept on swiping it by accident and stuff would change or happen.
