This is a portion of the Mission Mountain range in northwestern Montana, as viewed from the National Bison Range. The Mission Valley is spread below this range of theRocky Mountains, and was once entirely covered with water. When the waters receded a LONG time ago, the splendor and beauty of the valley was revealed. A number of Native American tribes call this area home, including the Salish and Kootenai peoples.
