I took some shots of my Martin OX, and for one of them, the pop-up flash was closed. Looking at it in detail, I saw these strange lines - like stray hairs. You have to click on Download to see them. They're not hairs, of course. Funny result.

Defective film? Reflections of the lines in your face?
I have no real idea what has caused them but I see that they seem to originate at the screw heads of the four tensioners. Obviously you were not moving the instrument around. Appears to be some type of reflections. Either that or Aliens are messing with you!

The Uke wants to be played, so the pegs are wildly scratching the air as it passes in hopes you will notice, pick it up and give it a little strum. It is these musical pleas that you are capturing.

I would guess reflections off the tensioners because of motion blur. Just a guess.

Looks those long thin strands of dried glue you sometimes get with certain types of think glues.
That or spider webs, but having all 4 screws decorated at once for either idea is weird.

And yes it could be the tracks left by bright light (think star trails) reflecting off the screw heads. For that to be the case the instrument or the camera would have to be moved during a longish exposure with no flash. If there was enough distance camera to subject all it would take is a bit of a jiggle either while hand holding, bumping the tripod/monopod. Or sneezing !?!?

Looks to me like the flash fired for the main exposure but the shutter was open for a long time. The "hairs" are tracks of the highlights on the reflective surfaces on the screws in the pegs. You moved the camera after the exposure while the shutter was open.

Notice how the "hairs" have very similar shapes.

Camera motion, the 'hairs' are identical.

The op knows it, read the title.

Long exposure. Hairs are actually highlights from the tuning pegs - my guess, since the EXIF data is stripped, that the shutter was open for at least 1-3 seconds.

That's what I was thinking too. It looks like the shooter moved the camera away just before the exposure had reached completion.

They seem to resemble reflected flash or light rays that bent slightly when you took the shot and may have actually reflected around the inner ring of your lens's perimeter sleeve. A CPL probably would have eliminated those lines of light possibly. Try and recreate the shot to see if you can duplicate the effects.

Sorry, out of focus. Try using the auto focus on your camera, or, use a smaller F stop and maybe you'll get better focus.

Catch lights off metal, uke was moved during exposure.
