I use a Nest carbon fiber gimbal from camera cottage. The owner, Mt shooter is a regular on this site. I use it with a Nikon d850 and 200 - 500 Nikkor lens.i mainly use it for kite/windsurfers. It is very well made and easily accommodates this combination. I consider the price to be very reasonable for the superior quality and service provided.
Have you considered a video fluid head as an option ? - Is what I am using and like it.
.
Another vote for the Nest. I have the carbon NT-530H gimbal mounted on a Sirui EN-2204 carbon tripod. I am very pleased with the combination. I strap it to the back of my wildlife backpack for hiking in. It's a bit bulky, but light. Easily handles my D850 or D500 with the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6. For some reason, I'm not seeing it on the normal websites. Another one that is highly recommended is Wimberley

I've been using a Manfrotto 393 - works like a charm. But I only use it with very heavy lenses, like my 600mmF4. I hand hold my 150-600 and everything that is shorter.
Nest as the other guys said.
Get the one from MT Shooter, it is the US model and he is the distributor. The ones on Ebay and Amazon are not only gray market but are not exactly the same as the US models.
I have a Jobu Jr.3 gimbal head. There's also the Jobu Jr.3 deluxe. It weighs only 1.5 lbs but can support up to 12 lbs. I use a Nikon D500 with Nikon 80-400mm lens on it. That's a combined weight of 5.3 lbs, so it has more than enough capacity for that. It has needle bearings and a thrust bearing in the tilt axes. The friction is finely adjustable. They designed a bushing for the panning axes that provides just the right amount of friction.
Look for models that have needle bearings in the tilt axes
Thrust bearing keeps the mechanism tight without binding

I also use the Manfrotto 393 and I agree it works like a charm. I’ve used it with my Nikkor 200-500 on both my D500 and my D850. Have been very pleased with it.
I have owned the Wimberley and now have RRS. RRS is the best most versatile if you are looking for a system to grow with in my view. If not there are other less expensive options.
The Digital Picture website has reviews of many tripods, several gimbals and ball heads. You may find that useful.

I use a Kirk Enterprises G-1 gimbal. It holds my 600mm F:4G VR beautifully however it cost $625.00.
I use a premium aluminum billet from Wimberley WH-200. Pricey but will last a lifetime.
