Took some movies with my Cell phone and have saved them on my micro SD Card. When I want to transfer them to a DVD Windows 10 software cannot find them. They are stored as MP4 files and I need to find a free online program that will allow me to convert the MP4 files to a DVD format so I can store them on a Blue-Ray movies disk. All the programs l have found wants to purchase them. There has to be a free movie download converter program that someone has used that I can get the name of that is FREE!!!

I have found a lot of vendors offering free downloads of there products, but when you open up there products they charge you to use there product to do the converting. they give you a free trial of their product but they stamp there name on the converted video and when you pay for the product they will remove the name and will let you continue with the rest of the converting of the file.

When you can't transfer the files, is that by
cable from the phone, or by card reader ? If
one method is failing you, try the other. And
do not try to load the MP4s directly into the
DVD/BlueRay writing app directly from your
phone or a card reader. First just copy them
to a folder in your regular Win10 file system.
Then your app just has to find them on the
same machine that the app lives on ;-) IOW
avoid conveniences that combine steps of a
process. Do all processes step by step.

"When I want to transfer them to a DVD Windows 10 software cannot find them."
- That is straight forward Windows Explorer work. Cameras and phones put MP4 files in oddly named folder and sub-folders. You have to look for them or use search.

"They are stored as MP4 files and I need to find a free online program that will allow me to convert the MP4 files to a DVD format so I can store them on a Blue-Ray movies disk."
-If they are high quality videos, converting to DVD format changes them to low quality, standard definition like our old tube TVs. Blu-Ray is High Definition, tangled up with licensing and requires a Blu-Ray specific burner.

"All the programs l have found wants to purchase them. There has to be a free movie download converter program that someone has used that I can get the name of that"
-I've never used it but "ImgBurn" is famous, free and supposed to work.

Contacted three major Cell Phone companies and explain the problem to the customer service major and was told that they do not support the software to convert the MP4 files so you can make them into a DVD movie. So any movie you shoot using your cell phone you cant make into a movie unless you pay for converter software.

Resolve Da Vinci is free and will convert MP4 To a DVD movie. Has a bit of a learning curve but there are plenty of YouTube videos on it.

You have to use Windows File Explorer to find the MP4 files on your device then copy them to a folder on your PC. then you can burn the movie file to a DVD. The DVD process is too complicated for me so I would just burn it to a regular CD unless you’re using a video editing program to make movies.

Try a video converter called Handbreak to see if will do what you want. It's free. Just search handbreak Converter on google.

It is Handbrake, not handbreak. It is very good at converting formats but does not "author" DVDs.

If you subscribe to the Adobe creative cloud for Premier you can still get Encore from Adobe, it difficult to find and you may have to call them. It’s by far the best for DVD and Blu-ray authoring, I use it every week for my customer’s DVD projects.

I've used ConvertXtoDVD from VSO several times without a hitch but it's not freeware.
