Does anyone know if the Nikon D810 is still being made? If yes, who carries them?

The Photo Center in Brick ,NJ has 1 in stock. For what they are asking I would just get the D850 or wait until Nikon has a sale.

Even if Nikon stopped making that model, many sellers may still have new ones. Try the usual new vendors and eBay may have them as well. But yes, you might be better off with a sale on a D850.

I did not check Nikon, B&H, or Adorama. But Ebay seems to have new D810 Bodies for just over $1,800. On Amazon they all seem to be asking for a premium inflated price of $2,500-3000! So it might be discontinued. But you probably can find a D850 for not much more than a D810. Say Nikon Factory open box, Nikon factory refurbished. And you can likely find a D810 that way as well.

Not sure but I think Nikon did stop. From what I have seen from time to time when the D850 is on sale it cost only about $300.00 more than a refurbished D810. For $300.00 I would go with the D850.

I just tried to purchase one on the Nikon site. It says they are out of stock. Not that I wanted to buy one, but just checking for you. The price was listed for $1999.95. I guess the out of stock and be interpreted a number of ways.

I think the D810 was no longer made since Nikon introduced the D850. They are still sold new at about $2000 but they are not in stock.

D810 went out of production in May of 2016.

I am assuming that Nikon is still producing the D810 because you can currently be put on a waiting list at B&H photo, because they mark the camera as back ordered. And yes, you can still buy one.

If I were you I would call around some smaller camera stores within two hours of you, they may have one in stock for you.

Backordered on Nikon and B&H websites.

$2000.

But why bother with a D810 new, when you can get a decent used one for around $1200, or get an even nicer D850 refurb for around $2400?

There are many reasons to buy a new or refurb D810 vs a D850. Firstly the file sizes (NEF) on the D850 and much larger and will require more space on the memory cards, next the sensor has about 25% more megapixels and IQ will be affected (or not optimized) when using Nikkor AI-s or Nikkor AF glass. Even some of the older AFS lenses will exhibit less than ideal IQ on the D850. The pixel density of the D850 is such that small camera movements will result in motion blur when handholding the camera. This is where VRII comes in, so if you don’t have stabilized lenses you might not get the best IQ without a tripod, or very fast shutter speeds. I opted for a D810 so I could use my CF cards which in my opinion are more durable and stable than SD cards. I bought a used body from a local dealer (15K activations) in January 2016 for C$2700 and have NEVER had one regret.

I spotted a Nikon-refurbished 810 on the B&H site for $1,800 at B&H, or $1,750 at Adorama.
I've bought plenty of lenses refurbished by Nikon, and have never had any issues. They look and work like new.
It also seems that if you wanted an 810 packaged with a 24-120, those may be in stock at B&H.
As far as the 850's file sizes being too large, that is easily adjustable in a menu.

Just f.y.i., this is a ploy to get you to get on their list in the hopes you give up and buy something else.

It does no make sense for Nikon to continue manufacturing D810 with introduction of D850. They more than likely built enough to fulfill any outstanding orders, maybe a few more and then stopped.
Personally, i would not buy a D81O at this point knowing parts/support is now on a short lifespan.
