We have nice Smartphones and my son-in-law is a professional photographer and thinks our phone's pixels are better than point and shoot Nikon camera daughter has several years. He's offered his deluxe professional camera but don't feel comfortable taking and having something happen to it $$$. We are now retired and will be taking our dream vacation to the Holy Lands and I don't want my camera to need charged while out and about so I miss pictures.
Can anyone tell me if there's a point and shoot camera that would take good landscape photos? Phone camera will be fine for selfies or close ups.
Thank you for any assistance you might have. We leave in about 6 weeks.
Blessings,

Blessings,
Do you mean one that uses AA or similar batteries instead of rechargeable?
Those are not so common anymore in anything but the simplest point and shoot cameras. But one or two extra batteries (charge them while sleeping etc) in your pocket will fix that.
But a very important item - what is your budget?
Would like to stay under $350
A pocket full of batteries might do just the trick for you
Consider a used/refurbished Nikon B700. Light weight, good zoom, shoots raw.

Yes! The smaller the camera, the smaller the battery, and the faster it will die. You can buy generic batteries at a fraction of the cost of OEM batteries. Look on Amazon.
I have had good experiences with Wasabi batteries.
I agree with the previous posts. A good pocket camera takes way better pictures than a cell phone, and a professional camera would weigh you down, (and would actually take some of the enjoyment out of the trip).
There are plenty of good "pocket-size" cameras with 1" sensors, and if you look around at the used ones, you can find them in a reasonable price range. Just make sure you test it out so you don't end up with a broken camera.
KEH has/had a six month guarantee on their used equipment.

I have taken perfectly good landscape photos in Israel with my smartphone. You don't need another camera.

Just so you do not misunderstand some earlier comments. I think when you say "I don't want my camera to need charged while out and about so I miss pictures" you are referring to the frequent need to charge a cell phone. There are very few cameras out now where running the battery down in a full day or two or three of casual touring photography is going to be an issue. Most pros have trouble burning through more than a battery or two during a day of professional shooting taking a significantly larger number of pictures than you are likely to be taking.
