Having trouble downloading photos from camera to computer

Using my D800, I am trying to download to my Apple computer a card from a recent trip. It will download the first 300 pictures and then comes to a complete halt and then waits sometimes minutes for another 10-11 or just stops completely.
Ideas?

It would be helpful if you specified..
1. how old the Apple computer is and what version of the system it is running
2. your method for doing the download.

Downloading from camera to computer
Other cards had no problem downloading to computer- just this one.

Try a card reader for downloading photos instead of the camera cable. It works faster and it’s easier. Your Mac may have a slot for SD cards. If not, you can buy an inexpensive reader online.
As far as this particular card being slower than the others, is it a different read/write speed than the others? Is the capacity of the memory card larger? What is different about it?
Next time you purchase a card, get the type and size that is the same as those that were working well for you and just use that one for a backup card.

Apple makes an adapter for just that purpose. One end has a slot for the disk and other end has a lightning connector end that plugs into the computer. If you have an older Mac with the 32 pin slot, you can still get one of those, as well. I believe they only cost $25.00. That’s what I use and have never had a problem loading images onto my iPad Pro.

The Lightning adapter is for iPhones and iPads only and is completely irrelevant to the Mac. Terminology matters.

Your best strategy then might be getting a card reader for future use.

Why not get an a card reader and not use the camera to computer situation that causes you a problem.

Try downloading fewer files at a time. With those big files, you may be running into a RAM limit.

Your Apple computer likely includes an SD card reader. Plug in your SD card and do the transfer that way.
