This is a continuation of my trip to the Hancock Shaker Village and the Composition Photography course. As one of the composition lessons was the topic "Frame the Subject" so I decided to use the apple tree to frame the round barn. There are five versions here. I am considering selecting one to hang. While they are currently in 2X3 ratio, I would consider printing at 6X9 (still 2X3 ratio) and matting it in a 10X13 or 11X14 frame or cropping to 8X10 and matting and putting in an 11X14 frame. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Number 3 because the twist in the tree exposing sky I find a distraction to the round barn that is the reason for taking the image with a frame. My 3 cents

Are you saying that number 3 is better than the others? Should I crop it even a little more to remove the small segment of sky that is above the horizontal branch? I have been leaning towards it or cropping some of the others to de-emphasize the sky. Thanks for your comments.

Number 2 is my choice. I like the composition and the building is large enough to be clearly seen as the subject.

Hi, I am a #2 person as well. No big reason, just like it.

#3, but need to crop both sides to improve composition & lighten up the tree bark a little #'s 1, 2 & 5 are way too top heavy & #4 does not have enough tree trunk to support its limbs. Let us know what you win.

I haven't seen anybody pick #1 as their favorite so I'm going to do just that. Although the others are good I find #1 just a lot more pleasing to my eyes.
