Here are a lot of links about organizing. I just put pictures in folders like Travel, Cars, Family, etc.

I have tried a few applications, but they appear to do more than I need, which tends to make the interface more complex and confusing than I would like. Something to do with age, probably.

I use a MAC with OS10.13.6

I would like to find the simplest  program that will allow me to view RAW (ORF) and JPG files at different magnifications to sort and organize them using keywords. I will be using Affinity to convert and perform PP.

If I don't appear to know what I am talking about please either ignore or ask clarifying questions.

Thanks

I believe Adobe Bridge is still free. A lot of people used it as their organizer for Photoshop before the time of Lightroom. I believe you can also, in preferences, set up your Affinity Photo as an external editor so you can send an image from Bridge directly into Affinity. The best reason to give it a try is that it is free and you don't have to sign up for any subscription service to get and use it.

Personally I have been using "FastRaw Viewer" now for awhile and like it a lot. It too is capable of launching an image into Affinity Photo.

Your simplest option is the Photos application on your Mac. With it you can do everything you are asking and go directly into Affinity from the app. Here is a book on Amazon explaining the app. "The Apple Photos Book for Photographers"

absolutely agree with at least looking at Photos. 1st it's free, 2nd it is very well linked into your apple infrastructure. 3rd you can use it with any number of plugins if you need to go beyond the basic processing it provides like Nik, Topaz, On1, etc.
