The Saguaro cactus is found exclusively in the Sonoran Desert. These plants are large, tree-like columnar cacti that develop branches (or arms) as they age, although some never grow arms. These arms generally bend upward and can number over 25. With the right growing conditions, a saguaro can live to be 150 to 200+ years old.

Paul, Well done!
I like that and the following one (Old Wilcox cemetery)on your Flickr page.
Been there--beautiful, isn’t it?
Another really nice capture ... I was in that area this past Spring & loved it. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you R.G., Bill, Rich, John, Frank! We lived in Phoenix in the 90s but never made it Tuscon in the year in the area. Now twice on recent visits I'm aware we missed out.

they are beautiful and amazing and that's a lovely shot...we saw so many of them when we drove to
phoenix last oct.
A great capture, with excellent detail. I'm a native Arizonan and my parents lived south of Wilcox (Pearce/Sunsites) for many years.
Thank you merrytexan, David! The morning of this image was one where being a bit lazy and late out to the trail was the best way to go. A cloudy morning cleared mid morning for my arrival.
Wonderful shot of the Saguaro cacti with the arms pointing to heaven.
