Every time TSA is tested, a large number of weapons ends up getting through. Maybe if they had had reinforced cockpit doors and anonymous air marshals on airplanes, then 9/11 wouldn't have happened. Add to that interagency cooperation which didn't exist and paying attention to the warning signals that were noted.

Needless to say, I was upset and enraged at that act of terrorism, but those twin towers, aside from being architecturally ugly, destroyed one of the most interesting neighborhoods of NYC with all its electronic component shops.
Every time TSA is tested, a large number of weapon... (show quote)

Hmmmm, let's weigh this. Eradicating architectural ugliness vs thousands of lives. Wow! Which to choose...

All the crap you mention is post 911 stuff that was never even considered necessary before the concept of flying airliners full of people into skyscrapers was even envisioned.
Only fools would make such retarded statements.
Like we should have never moved the Pacific fleet to Hawaii.

I'm pretty sure he/she would get them down quick enough if they needed a pee.

If they had prohibited carrying box cutters on board prior to 9/11 that would have helped. TSA was not and it not the answer. Only in the minds of those who believe that the government must "protect" us. Two things have prevented a repeat. The airlines (admittedly with government mandate) have strengthened the cockpit doors and passengers no longer are passive about attempted highjacking. It used to be that if your flight was highjacked you would wind up going someplace you hadn't planned and would be delayed (with a few exceptions), but you would eventually get where you planned on going. 9/11 ended that. Now a highjacker is taking their life in their hands as the passengers will take them out rather than be unwilling participants in a flying bomb demonstration. To claim that the MacDonalds rejects in TSA are responsible for this is nuts.

But, but, but is stupid, in hindsight many things can be said.
Again you cannot anticipate everything.
And box cutters had NOTHING to do with it. Planes were hijacked for decades before. They were never flown into skyscrapers before.
Only a fool believes box cutters were the cause of 9/11.

Make sure the video was recording and "Please remove your shoes." "No, you can't board until you remove your shoes."
And try not to choke keeping from laughing while the shoes are removed.

I have a question...
I am 80 years old.
Did I hear right that older folks do not have to remove their shoes or belt?

Quite a dilemma.

Do you think he's wearing a pair of socks underneath them shoes and how long?

Granted, he gets through TSA, he may have to give up his shoes laces. They're so long they may be considered as "weapons" to strangle or hang someone. If that happens, he may be charged with indecent exposure for, "Your fly is open."

Box cutters weren't the cause, they were the tools. Good grief.

As a fool I appreciate being told that I'm a fool (and probably Ghery does too), because I'm too foolish to know that I'm a fool. I thought I was responding to the post opining that if we had had a TSA, 9/11 wouldn't have happened. So I criticized the competence of the TSA and added that reinforced cockpits and air marshals would have been more effective than the TSA, but foolish me, did not bother adding that these measures were put into place only after the disaster.

I think I would choose to eradicate reading incompetence.
