I know that Calley became the scapegoat and went to prison but I can't remember for how long. What ever became of him? Is he even still alive?
Sentenced to life, Pres Nixon intervened and had him put under house arrest instead of prison, why because all the others, esp his higher ups who sent them on the mission got off and the general public saw him as a scapegoat by that time. After 3 1/2 years a Federal court released him because of all the problems with how his court marshal was handled while the others were all let off. One of those officers who was let off I entirely agree about, the Brigand commander, it was his first day in that position when the massacre took place.
As of a couple of years ago he lived in Atlanta and I believe the article said he was a retired jeweler.
