A few from the Bavarian Alps in Austria on our last trip to Vienna. Hallstatt, a town of medieval streets and picturesque houses, beyond which lies a sparkling deep-blue lake which shares the same name.....located deep in the Austrian Alps on Halstatter See (lake) and is accessible by road or by train. If arriving by train, you'll have to take a ferry across the lake since the station is on the other side of the See (lake).

The oldest salt mine in the world and the oldest staircase in Europe is located directly above the city of Halstatt and dates back 7000 years to the Bronze Age. Adjacent to the Salt mine is a 360-meters-high free-floating viewing platform known as the Hallstatt Skywalk, and a world-famous World Heritage site will stretch out deep below your feet.

Also are photos of the Melk Abby and if you're ever in Austria, its a must see. Last photo is of Castle Durnstein on the Danube, one of the places where King Richard I was held captive by Leopold V after the Third Crusade from 1192-1193. Beautiful country....
