(yes, I realize that it is just a joke, but) unfortunately politicians rarely go to prison, because they pass the laws that allow them to be legally corrupt: Can't be charged with insider trading, can't be charged with slander if they say it on the senate floor, etc. Plus, even if they get caught red handed, their buddies won't prosecute them, cause people who live in glass houses know better than to throw stones.

It is similar to our local police who do not wear seat belts. Even if there were a state law mandating that they do so, which cop is going to write a ticket on another?
