This art of wood had been washed ashore and I was wondering what I could do with it as I do have an ongoing, but not often, driftwood project.

Then I looked closely,,on the bottom a bit to the left I see a dog's muzzle, two eyes, a nose and it is like the dog is hiding in the tree. Up, from the middle leaning to the left I see teeth and finally that hole on bottom on right I see a Ha-Ha smile.

I totally get where you are coming from, Jim. Even when I'm out with
family and friends walking around, I'll see something that catches my
eye and I'll stop, change perspective, get down on the ground trying
to really "see" the shot...my wife and close friends accept that.

Came across a good quote on solitude: "There is a world of difference between solitude and loneliness, though the two terms are often used interchangeably. Solitude is a state of being alone without being lonely and can lead to self-awareness."

Thanks Roadrunner for hosting this challenge. I believe it will be an interesting one.

I like your shot here of some one just enjoying the time and relaxing..

One thing I find solitude in is Flying although hard to believe but YES it can be peaceful and quiet at times.

And also busy with cockpit management.

Nice, Bob!

Will you be going to the Garlic Festival in Bennington on Labour Day Weekend?

Vermont is a state of solitude.

Thank you for a wonderful challenge, here is a quote I think just nails it perfectly and a sample of my solitude....

Language... has created the word 'loneliness' to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word 'solitude' to express the glory of being alone. Paul Tillich

Interesting subject Jim. I do my best work while alone, solitary. I think these two fit this challenge. The first one I have shared before. It is my favorite spot on Assateague Island - my solitary tree. It was torn down earlier this summer by tourists that have not respect for the island and what it means to the locals.

I think it’s a damn shame that some people feel the need to tear things like this down. I despise vandalism. I live in a quiet little beach community and a few assholes decided it would be amusing to use an as yet undetermined explosive to blow up a Port-a-John. Why? Is that a thrill? Wait until they see how thrilling it is to spend a few months in Rhode Island’s Adult Correctional Facility (read “prison”).
