Great shots! Lax is one of my favorite sports to shoot. My kids have played different sports over the years but lax has been a favorite for a long time. Fast paced and fun (and you can hit each other with sticks...the main reason my son started playing in 5th grade). Thanks for sharing these! Nice job at catching the action!

Thank you. I try to get shots of all the sports my grandkids play: lacrosse, basketball, crew, swimming, baseball, cross country. They each present some unique opportunities to catch both action and emotion. Each sport presents different challenges to get quality shots.

...these are great and capture the fast action of the game...one of the most difficult things with any sport shots is dealing with the ugly background...

The comment about "ugly background" is absolutely true. Usually we have to deal with parking lots or streets with parked cars. I try to get the good angles to avoid that, but it's not always possible.

One time I had a good shot, nice action and I was happy with it...until I looked at the background. A whole line of Port-a-Potties! Ugh.

Your best shot in my opinion is no. 2 filled the frame, nice exposure, you see the player, the ball, good stuff.

Thanks for the comment. I probably agree with you.Although I thought the first one told a pretty good story.

Great shots. I find sports a challenge. I shoot soccer and swimming. Soccer is easier but clarity of facial expressions difficult. I have an 18/400 f4-5.6. What lens do you prefer and what settings?

I like 2... Try shooting the corners from both sides of the goal. makes for some great shots. By shooting left or right of the goalie and slightly behind him it allows you a different perspective. Yes he scored on this backed shot.

Keep up the good work.

Canon 70-200, f2.8. The light situations vary so much that I get to the site early, take photos of the warmups and see what works best at that time.
