There aren't many of these still flying. And to be fair, I didn't see this one fly either. It's wasn't for lack of trying, I looked for five days and this never moved. Depending on what you read, there are between 2 and five still flying today.

There use to be one flying out Peachtree Dekalb airport here GA. I have not seen or heard it in 2 years (it had a very distinctive sound). I did read a article about somebody who bought a couple of the non airworthy ones for parts to keep others flying. It was a very innovative and fast airplane and safe with the cunard design. Not enough were purchased to continue production, so it is pretty much done.

Burt Rutan owns one and a guy in Arizona owns a couple of them. Beechcraft really stepped forward with this airplane and created a unique new design all from composite. People who have owned them, loved them. Burt Rutan openly admits he will never sell his as it is clearly the best airplane he has owned. They didn't sell as well as Beech had hoped and as time marched forward they became concerned on the long term safety of their first foray into building an all composite airplane. So, they started buying all of them back and scrapped them. Burt and the guy in Arizona refused to sell them back to Beechcraft and still fly them today. Burt flew his into the annual Oshkosh Airventure this year and it was parked at show center for several days.

The ones that remain are very rare. They were expensive and slower than other comparable aircraft so sales didn’t materialize, selling only about a dozen. Beechcraft tried leasing them to drive demand, but that didn’t work out well. Beechcraft was losing a lot of money supporting a small fleet, so they destroyed all the planes they had, and tried swapping a Premier I jet for privately owned Starships. There were some awaiting destruction that were not airworthy, sold off to people for parts.

Nice capture, it is a very cool looking turbo prop!
