I would have thought that 2 tele-converters would have destroyed the detail, not so. Great image and I do not see those white lines around the feathers that are common with over sharpening.

Thank you very much, James. Only the mirrorless cameras will utilize both tele-converters at the same time. However, the extenders (tele-converters) are the II series and not the III series which can not be combined together. Even though I can still auto-focus, it is slow due to the higher f/values and the merging of the two extenders. It still comes out to be very sharp considering.

Wow...that's close-up .......cool.

I get good results with using a Canon 2x III extender with my Canon 100-400 II lens giving me 800mm at 400mm times 2x = 800mm. One can not do this with a non-mirrorless camera. So, the biggest surprise is you can work magic with extenders with the Canon EOS R or similar mirror-less cameras.

I get images that sharp without any sharpening using Canon L lenses like Regis.
And as to the colors, when they get the right diet male house finches can look like they are neon in sunlight, esp if wet from rain or the birdbath.

Just noticed is with the R!

The only thing about the R that really got my attention is the f/11 AF.

Hand held @ 840mm. Distance was about 25-30 feet.

Canon EOS R - Canon 300mm 2.8 II - Canon 1.4x II + Canon 2x II = 840mm - 1/640 - f/5.6 - ISO @ 250.

I love it, regis...beautiful male finch ..love his colors.
