Really nice. Brings back memories. I used to live in San Rafael. Similar fairs came to Marin Cty. We live in Sacramento and go to Dillon Beach a lot.

Marin Co. has a fair in San Rafael over July 4th each year although I believe the Sonoma Co. Fair offers more variety and better parking. While Marin doesn't have horse racing, the fine art exhibit is quite a bit better. There are tradeoffs with each venue, but I suspect the state fair surpasses the others.
Dillon Beach is a bit of a hike for you but well worth the drive. There are some others farther up the coast that might be better - Salmon Creek being one.

Thanks Mike. We were glad we went. Got there when it opened and stayed just long enough to see everything we wanted to see. A race horse trainer we know, had some horses running, but we didn't get his schedule and missed seeing one of his horses win a race a short time after we left.
