Software Needed

I'm looking for two softwares.

The first one allows a *.jpg file to be rotated 90deg clockwise and counterclockwise and saved with the same quality in it's rotated form.

The second software creates a set of 'contact prints' that can be 1-1/2"x2" or whatever. The software parses the directory and includes all the *.jpg photographs in the directory/folder.

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe Fastone will handle your JPEG rotation.

Thanks... will look into this. Is it 'free'? or relatively inexpensive?

Which operating system? If it's windows, Irfanview will do both of those. https://www.irfanview.com/

You may need to download and install some addons which are also available on the site.

any of the free tools like Windows Photo Editor or Paint will do the rotation

or google 'free contact sheet software' for many more -- I've used Irfanview in the past

-----------------
if available,
In Photoshop, go to File > Automate > Contact Sheet II.

Faststone will do what you need. It is a pleasure to work with.

Didn't know that about Irfanview... used it for over 10 years.

Thanks... in the process of scanning all my 35mm film and some of the photos are rotated. At film 096 and have about 150 to go.

Dik, Irfanview has made some great improvements over the last 10 years. I've used it for batch resizing, etc. Another application within the package is Irfanview Thumbnails. That does a great job producing "contact sheets" of the images.

Have used irfanview since the author was a student, almost 20 years ago. It's one of the few programs I load on every computer. Highly recommended.

Interesting.
Windows 7 "Preview" appears to rotate and keep the same dimensions and file size.
But you don't say under what conditions you want to rotate.
Just JPEG files on the drive?

Thanks gentlemen/ladies... I've got it working, and learned a bunch. I've been using Irfanview for decades and only as a graphics viewer. I didn't know it had other capabilities.

If you are using Windows, just double-click on the image. Windows Photo Viewer lets you rotate the image 90° in either direction and it will be saved when you move to the next image.

Yes! Excellent program - and free. Press R to rotate right, L for left. I know Irfanview can work with thumbnails, but I've never tries to print a contact sheet.

Definitely get the add-ons. Pressing I or E while viewing an image gives you more information.
