Program to take photo out of video

Is there a free or inexpensive program that would allow me to stop a video on a specific frame and be able to get a print made of it (or to just save the "photo").

I'm sure there has to be something out there that doesn't cost a bajillion $$.

Hi Anna,

I didn't notice if you use a PC or not but I just checked my Window 7 machine and Live Movie Maker had a feature called snapshot that might help with your quest. Take care & ...

Two free programs that do it are IrfanView and VLC Media Player.

I use VLC as IrfanView takes every single frame of the video out for you to sort (possibly a setting I haven't seen)

I have a very simple way to get an image from a video. When I see something I want, I press PrtScn. That copies the image that is on the screen into the computer's memory. Then I open an editing program, in my case Irfanview, and press Ctrl-V to paste it onto the screen.
