Nikon D7100 Save/Load Settings

I am not sure what I am doing wrong - I am trying to load settings that Ken Rockwell has made (NCSETUP.BIN). I have a formatted card and the file is in the root directory and yet when I try to load the settings through the camera menu - almost nothing happens. The same is true when I try to save the settings either - it should ask me whether I want to overwrite etc....nothing. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Assuming he has written out the setting, it would probably be easier to change each one manually. Less electronic, more hands-on.

Start from scratch. I did this several years ago and his instructions are correct.

I do not have a D7100, but do have several other Nikon models and have come to use this feature quite a bit. It happens very quickly and without any intermediate conversation whether saving or loading.
On all of my cameras, it sets most menu options perfectly, but there are a few things it does not cover, including custom picture control settings. Those have to be reset by hand for some reason.
It's a huge time saver when needed.

I agree 100% with Jerry. Nine months ago I bought a very gently used D7100 (less than 10K actuations) and with the body got a Digital Field Guide by J. Dennis Thomas. It has very clear and detailed instructions on the subject. I used his instructions to create two custom settings and they work extremely well.

I just went through this with a new (to me) D7200. I tried it several times, before looking and viola, there was no message, no way to know, but it went through. Check your settings, they will be there!
