Full moon descends upon Milwaukee and people are going crazy about it.

There's a huge 23-foot replica of Earth's moon hanging in Milwaukee, WI.

The artwork — "Museum of the Moon" — came to Milwaukee as part of a festival to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon. The pop-up festival Under One Moon starts at 5 p.m. Friday and goes to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The huge inflatable moon is suspended from cranes above Catalano Square on the south end of the Third Ward.

"Museum of the Moon" was created by United Kingdom-based artist Luke Jerram using NASA photography. The artwork has been touring the world since 2016. This year, "Museum of the Moon" has made USA stops in Houston and Boston. It will go to Philadelphia in December.

Amusing. I figured from the title it was something silly.

For me it might work as an image if the moon was about 1/3 the size. No reflection on your capture but the moon stands out as fake.

Thanks for the comment, lamiaceae.

Yep! They're really going nuts. You know, full moon = lunacy.

Thanks for your comment, joer.

I purposely did not take a "shrunken" image of this moon to magnify the significance of the event and show what's all the fuss is about.

No one doubts that it's a fake moon and inflatable, as well. But the artwork was patterned after NASA's photography to give it a close-to-real view of the lunar surface. For all of us who most likely will not experience the real thing (walk on the real moon), that is good enough.

Thanks for the kind remark, Dr.Nikon.

I barely squeezed in my tripod and lucky to have one good photo because of the crowd going "nuts" last night.

Incidentally, I am in a night photography class. I may include this photo among the samples for presentation next week.

Thanks, again.

That's a very nice shot of a interesting exhibit. I certainly didn't think you were trying to portray it as a real moon photo. I think you show include it in your night photography class submission. And good luck!
Cheers,
Don

The perfect size for the intent. Not meant to be mistaken for real.
