After purchasing a new iMac and the new iPad Pro I decided it was time I learn post process. So instead of Photoshop since I don’t do much of it I decided to download afinity on both. I love it! I’ve barely used it on my iMac but I’ve fallen in love with it on my iPad Pro it is so amazing. The tutorials are very easy to follow. Here is one of the first pictures I worked on. Tell me what you think.
Hey lovelynlyn. what you have posted is great but we really need to see the sooc shot to see what you have achieved.
It's very good. It's getting close to Rembrandt lighting but I think the light source is too low. The catchlights in her eyes are too low also. The 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock position for catchlights is best. It looks like it was window light. Maybe have her sit lower relative to the window.

Your subject is beautiful and so is the photo!!
Extremely well done. Affinity is truly a remarkable program. The best thing I like about it is you buy it and don't have to continue paying a monthly fee. Mahalo for sharing.
Hi lovelynlyn.
I've had a good look at these shots side by side.
1. You have done a great job of smoothing the skin.
2. I like the increased saturation of the head band but possibly a little bit less.
3. The increased saturation of the jeans jacket is too much. The original colour is more true to life.
4. The right side of the face has been over processed and now has a yellowish look. Also the highlights on lips and nose have been overdone and are now blown out.
If my first attempts at Lightroom or Affinity were as good as this, I would have been very pleased with myself.
Keep at it and remember less is often more. This applies to subject matter and post processing.
A great effort.
John
