Easy way to use Tamron Tap in Console

I have the Tamron 100-400 and this required 15 focus adjust figures to be inputted . Now if you do it manually using a ruler or "whatever" it takes "forever" , Now if you have a D500/D850/7500 you can use the auto fine tune in those cameras to give you the figures in about 15 min. Just read them off the menu .make a list and re set to zero for the next one . Camera needs to be on zero once the figures are in the lens. Makes the biggest difference for "macro" shots ie 400mm at 4 ft,

I don't have that lens, but since you seem to want a comment, "That is nice".

I have the lens and the TAP console but I am relatively pleased with it “as is” when used on a D7100 or D750. I just have not bothered to tinker with it. I like the lens because of its light weight and the performance has exceeded my expectations. I will be in the cruising the UK & Ireland this month but taking M43 50-200mm (100-400 equiv) for coastal shots. Looks like a great deal of rain in Scotland & the Orkneys. Any tips for photos of the coastal area would be appreciated. Good luck.

I too used it as is but with the fine focus adjusted at 400mm ..I think it was +6 but when using it for close ups they were just not sharp ..It transpired it needed -4 at 100mm/1.5m.
Remember using a smaller format does not change the focal length of the lens ..a 200mm puts the same size image of say a bird on any size sensor. You may or may not get more pixels on the image dependent on the camera.

It might be good information if I completely understood it. But I don't. I would probably need a video with detailed instruction. Let me know when you have one ready.

Seems like a lot of effort involved to use that particular lens.

I own the D500 and a whole suite of Tamron G2 lenses. And I have the tap-in as well. I've just never used it.

I have the tap-in and the lens calibration gear. Just never felt brave enough to try calibrating my own lens. There seem to be two schools of thought on that here in UHH.
I do use it for firmware updates because I have several Tamron lenses that put me into their VIP club....not that I’ve ever gained much from it.

Well saxman you don't need a video. If you have connected and plugged in a Tamron lens you will know there is a table of values to fill in , Focal lengths and distance. All you need to do is use the auto fine tune function at these distances/focal lengths to give you the figures. If you are not doing even basic fine focus adjust (longest focal length at infinity) then you are not getting the best from your lenses.
