I was not disparaging the OP, but defending him. I responded to his post with several suggestions, since I am fortunate enough to live here, and in fact received a gracious note of thanks from him.
I was disagreeing with the post that suggested that a "serious artist" would have to make one reconnaissance and one image making trip.
In fact I think the OP's research-based approach is far more serious and professional, and would result in more time to actually photograph the changeable landscape of the Maine coast.

an issue is that different 'artists' have different preferences. I prefer high sun, distinct shadows, and accurate colors {so for years I have avoided the 'golden hour'} - preferences completely different from the norm.
