I purchased a Sony A6400 with a 18-135 lens and have been very pleased with the results. I would like to know what the thoughts are on the 10-18, or something similar? I like the fact the Sony has image stabilization as I have as slight tremor at times.

My use would be for the wider angle aspects and hopefully improved lower light photos.

Very nice work, Bill! My widest angle is 24, which fits my needs, but I work on landscapes and flowers mostly.

The Sony 10-18 is a very nice, compact, light weight lens. I use it on an a6000. Here are two samples.

For 'something similar' I have been very happy with my Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS on my A6000.
($279 on B&H). It is manual focus but very easy to use with focus peaking. Lack of image stabilization is not a problem with such a wide / bright lens. It is one of the best APS-C lenses you can get for night / milky way photography and dark interiors. It is also sold under the Samyang label.

You don’t ever feel the need for the zoom function?

Thanks

Wow they are impressive shots! I think I will wait until there is some type of rebate/sale and pull the trigger.

Thanks for sharing!

Not at that width. I have the 18-105. Not much need for anything between 12 mm and 18mm.

I had that lens on an a6000 and although it wasn’t used as often as the 18-105, I was glad I had it. It’s small and I was happy with the results when the 18-105 wasn’t wide enough. I’ve sold all of that and have been sorry ever since. I’ve pretty much decided to buy the a6400. I just can’t decide on which lens. It’s between the 18-135 like you have, or the 18-105 like I sold (dang it), or the 16-50/2.8 (used from Adorama for $409). I don’t think I’ll be happy with the kit 16-50/3.5-5.6 lens. I’m leaning towards the 16-50/2.8 because it’s smaller.

I tried kit lenses they were okay. The 18-135 is better. Not G but very good.

If that is the A-Mount 16-50 / 2.8 you will need an adaptor which will increase the size and weight. I believe the E-Mount 16-50 / 2.8 is still a rumour.

Oh, you are right. I didn’t notice that. I would not be interested in using an adapter. I think the 18-105 is a better lens than the 18-135 because of the build and the F-stop. If I want small, I would have to go with the kit 16-50/3.5-5.6
